One of the great things about living in San Antonio is that there’s never a shortage of fun things to do or interesting places to see. Whether you’re visiting the historic Alamo, taking a stroll along the San Antonio River Walk, or catching a Spurs game, residents and tourists alike are able to choose from a wealth of popular attractions. And while these popular attractions are part of what makes San Antonio such an amazing place to live, there are plenty of other destinations off the beaten path that are worthy of a visit as well. In fact, here are some of our favorite hidden gems in San Antonio:

1. Seeing Art San Antonio

Home to several recognized establishments like the San Antonio Museum of Art, The Witte Museum, and The McNay Art Museum, San Antonio is a hotbed for fine art. For those of you who are tired of the art museum scene, however, Seeing Art San Antonio takes you out of the museums and into several well-known, local artists’ studios. From sculptor Danville Chadbourn’s Beacon Hill studio to contemporary artist Vincent Valdez’s studio inside an old fire station, these tours will introduce you to the artist, explain their creative processes, and show off their unique studio spaces. 2. Alamo City Ghost Tours

You’ve been to the famous historical sites, now it’s time to learn about the ghosts that still haunt them. Alamo City Ghost Tours takes tour-goers on a guided walk through the streets and back alleys of downtown San Antonio, while recalling the haunting tales of the city’s storied past. Whether you’re skeptic or true believer, this tour offers a great way to learn more about San Antonio’s rich history and does so in a way unlike any other. 3. San Antonio Zoo

With San Antonio being home to one of the nation’s three SeaWorld locations, it’s easy to forget about the San Antonio Zoo. As the home to more than 3,500 animals, this 35-acre zoo presents visitors with a close look at more than 750 different species, and features several unique viewing exhibits. At Africa Live!, for example, zoo-goers are able to experience real African lake and river habitats by observing hippos, Nile crocodiles, and African cichlids through different underwater viewing windows. The zoo also features a wide variety of birds, mammals, reptiles, and amphibians, so you’re bound to find something that piques your interest. Tickets are $12 for adults and $9.50 for children and seniors, so grab the whole gang and head on out to the zoo today!
