Give Your San Antonio Apartment A New Feel with These 4 Inventive Window Treatments

(April 14, 2016)

Window-Treatments-SA.jpgWood-look window blinds are standard features in all of our Springs San Antonio luxury apartment homes. They're perfect for controlling natural light and they look great as is, but you might want to add a personal touch to your decor with some stylish window treatments.

Here are some of the more appealing window treatment ideas we've seen. Use these suggestions or let them inspire you to create your own design.

1. Roman Shades

Roman shades operate on a principle similar to traditional blinds, where you can raise and lower them to the desired height. The difference is that the slats are covered with fabric, so they are essentially a hybrid of curtains and blinds. DIY mock Roman shades are an easy and inexpensive hack to get the look.

2. Room Dividers or Screens

Who says a window treatment has to be actually attached to the window? A room divider or folding screen placed in front of a window creates a striking look. Get more bang for your buck by using the divider to partition off a work or reading area during the day.

3. No-Fabric Treatments

Think outside the box to create unique treatments using non-fabric materials. One suggestion is to fill tall, thin colored glass containers with water and decorative rocks and line them up on the windowsill. As an added benefit, the glass and water will filter light and heat, keeping the room cool during the day.

4. Design Your Own Curtains

Can't find the color or pattern you're looking for? It's surprisingly easy to customize your own curtains. Start with plain white curtains, either solid or sheer, or a white canvas drop cloth. From there, your imagination is the only limit. Fabric dye, stencils, paint and ribbon are just a few of the materials you can use to design and accessorize.
