Does your workout program include aerobic activity, weight training and stretching? Yoga burns calories, tones muscles and develops flexibility all in one exercise form. San Antonio has several yoga studios that are great for both newcomers and experienced practitioners. Get your Zen on at one of these top locations we've scouted out for you.

Southtown Yoga Loft
724 S. Alamo

SYL has a mission to offer a nurturing, non-competitive atmosphere where students can work on bettering themselves. Visitors love the airy loft space with wood floors, exposed brick walls and numerous windows that let in the light. Classes are available seven days a week, including a weekday lunchtime session. Moms will appreciate the kids, baby massage and prenatal classes.

The Synergy Studio
300 E. Grayson Street

The Synergy Studio is designed to provide a community with comprehensive resources for achieving and maintaining a balance of mind, body and spirit. Classes are held in all traditional yoga forms, including Hatha, Iyengar and Kundalini, as well as tai chi, Pilates, Zumba and and African dance. If you would like to try something different, Nia is a unique fusion of Eastern and Western forms that improves strength, agility and mobility. All San Antonio residents can take their first class at The Synergy Studio for no charge.

The Union Yoga + Strength
Three locations

Kick it up a notch with hot yoga at The Union. Classes are conducted in a studio heated to 105°F, making your muscles more pliable to facilitate movement. The higher temperatures also improve circulation, allow more efficient delivery of oxygen to your system, boost metabolism for better fat-burning, and increase perspiration that removes toxins from your body. The Union has locations in Huebner Strand, Alamo Heights and Hollywood Park. The latter two also offer Crossfit classes.

Divine Yoga
1609 W. Lawndale Drive

At Divine Yoga the focus is exclusively on Kundalini, considered by many to be the most powerful and effective yoga form. Each class concludes with a meditation session using the sound and vibrations of a gong to relax your body and dissolve negative thoughts. Classes are conducted at a pace and style that accommodates first-timers as well as advanced level students.

Two Hearts
5309 McCullough Avenue

Two Hearts is a great place to explore the full range of yoga styles and variations. The extensive class selection includes some lesser-known forms such as Kirtan, which involves call-and-response chanting, and Anusara, focusing on anatomical alignment. You may also enjoy some of their more light-hearted classes like Bend and Brew, which is followed by an optional self-serve beer tasting, and Rockin' Vinyasa, set to a background of music from classic rock to classical Indian.
