August 22, 2017

Celebrate National Dog Day in CincinnatiYour faithful dog loves you unconditionally 365 days a year, so take one of those days to show him how much he means to you. Join other pet lovers in celebrating National Dog Day on Saturday, August 26 with one of these great activities.

1. Head to the Park

Get a change of scenery with a visit to Otto Armleder Memorial Park, the crown jewel of Cincinnati dog parks. Fido can romp to his heart's content on the expansive 10-acre grounds that include separate fields for large and small dogs. There is also a canopied area with a doggy shower and drinking fountains. Park hours are dawn until dusk, seven days a week.

2. Go on a Lunch Date

How can you go wrong with a restaurant called Lucky Dog Grille? This family- and pet-friendly restaurant is less than a 15-minute drive from both Springs at West Chester and Springs at Liberty Township. Sit on the outdoor patio and dine on one of the signature mac and cheese dishes while your dog orders from his very own menu. Lucky Dog is open from 11 a.m. – midnight on Saturday.

3. Take in a Ball Game

It wouldn't be summer in Cincinnati without baseball. Share the Great American Pastime with your dog at "Bark in the Park," scheduled for Tuesday, August 29 at Great American Ball Park. Join the pre-game pet parade and have your picture taken with your dog in front of a Cincinnati Reds backdrop. Cost of a ticket package for one human and one dog is $50.

4. Host a National Dog Day Party

Plan a festive party for your dog and his buddies at the convenient off-leash dog park at our Springs Cincinnati luxury apartment communities. Ask the invitees to bring along a favorite game or toy like a Frisbee or fetch stick. You may not get the guests to go along with wearing party hats, but they'll love some delicious and healthy DIY dog treats.

5. Plan a Day of Pampering

Your pet will feel like a million bucks after a spa day at Earthwise Pet. Grooming services are done using high-quality, all-natural products for your dog's safety and comfort. Fashion-forward dogs can get a full or partial dye or chalk job, or a "paw-dicure" with colorful nail caps. Visit the website for a $5 coupon good for your initial visit. Saturday hours are 10 a.m. – 8 p.m.
