Live Like a Local: Planning Your Relocation to Liberty Township and West Chester

December 13, 2016

Relocating_Tips_Cinci.jpgGetting settled in a new area can be difficult, particularly if you’re moving from a distant city or state. However, it’s possible to ease relocation stress by using the following tips to get settled into your new apartment home in Liberty Township or West Chester.

1. Check Out City Visitor Information

Okay, you’re technically not a visitor, but what better resource could there be to learn about your new home city than the local visitor’s bureau? Liberty Township and West Chester both offer a wealth of information about the area and attractions you should consider checking out as you settle in.

2. Unpack in Order

Pack and unpack your items in an organized manner so you can reach what you need quickly and easily throughout your move. Pack a few suitcases or duffel bags as though you’re going on vacation to keep clothing, toiletries, and other essentials close at hand. Set aside one or two clearly marked boxes with other immediately important items like sheets, towels, shower curtains, dishes, utensils, and a few pots and pans. With these items accessible, you can unpack the rest of your belongings at your leisure.

3. Explore Some Tasty Offerings

One of the best ways to get to know your neighbors and start feeling like a local is to find the best local restaurants and watering holes. Ask around for recommendations and set out to explore your local pizza restaurants, pubs, coffee houses, and chili joints.

4. Connect Local Groups

If you’re new to the area, it’s important to make the effort to connect with some local groups.  Consider joining the YMCA of Greater Cincinnati or getting involved with local volunteer organizations. The more you get out there, the sooner you’ll find more friends.

5. Try Out Different Routes

Change your route to work or school often during your first few weeks in the Cincinnati area and be sure to allow yourself time for these explorations. You’ll gain a wealth of information about local traffic patterns and discover new highlights by giving yourself permission to “get lost.”
