1. 2018 Winter Blues & Heritage Festival

Nothing like the smoldering sound of blues to warm up a cold winter day. Cinci Blues Society sponsors this annual festival that features a mix of national and local artists performing on five stages. The non-stop music runs from 6 – 11 p.m. on Friday, February 2 and Saturday, February 3. Tickets are $25 per day or $45 for a weekend pass.

Take a break from the music and check out the 11th annual Beerfest, celebrating the best of craft beer from more than 150 breweries. Your admission fee helps support the Big Joe Duskin Music Foundation, an organization that promotes music programs in underfunded schools. Tickets are $45 in advance and $55 at the door. Available sessions are 6:30 – 11 p.m. on Friday, February 2 and Saturday, February 3, with an afternoon session from noon – 4:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Dreaming of hitting the slopes out west? They're closer than you might think. Perfect North Slopes is just across the state line, making it an ideal spot for a day or weekend trip. The Slopes include 22 trails, 11 lifts and two terrain parks for skiing, snowboarding and tubing. Lessons are available for both kids and adults. During the winter, Cincinnati's iconic Fountain Square in the heart of downtown turns into an outdoor skating wonderland. There is also a full-service concessions tent serving hot and cold snacks along with alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. Skating for all ages is available seven days a week beginning at noon through February 19, with extended hours until 9 p.m. on weekends. Admission is $6 with skate rental available for $4. Traction aids are offered for parents who want to walk alongside their kids.

Do you think of the zoo as strictly warm-weather entertainment? Visit the Cincinnati Zoo now for a fascinating look at how penguins, polar bears, snow monkeys and other members of the animal kingdom enjoy winter. When you need to warm up, head into one of the heated indoor exhibits. The Zoo is open daily from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. and all tickets are half-price through March 9.
