If you’re looking for a taste of Chicago, you can’t go wrong starting at a local brewpub. There are delicious destinations throughout the city offering distinctive beers that are a refreshing alternative to your predictable national brands. Stop into one of these Chicagoland hot spots for a bite and a brew!

Metal Monkey Brewing
515 Anderson Dr, Suite 900, Romeoville

Metal Monkey Brewing is about 10 minutes away from our Springs at Weber Road community, making it a great pick when you don’t want to head all the way into Chicago. In addition to an eclectic selection of local brews, the tap room also hosts a broad selection of games and frequent visits from food trucks. The menu changes regularly, but typically features a solid selection of American and German beers with a few outliers like English or Russian options thrown into the mix.

Revolution Brewing
3340 N Kedzie Ave, Chicago

Revolution Brewing keeps a few staples on hand year-round, like the crisp Anti-Hero IPA, intensely chocolate-flavored Eugene Porter and spiced citrusy Bottom Up Wit. You’ll also find a selection of seasonal options that change throughout the year. In September, you can enjoy the flavors of Oktoberfest and Mosaic-Hero. The pub serves an extensive menu of appetizers, pizzas, sandwiches and other entrees to fill your belly as you quench your thirst.

5 Rabbit Cerveceria
6398 W 74th St, Bedford Park

About an hour’s drive from our Springs at Orchard Road community, this brewery is a bit closer than downtown Chicago destinations. 5 Rabbit Cerveceria is the first U.S.-based brewery inspired by Latin American flavors. The brews here stem from Aztec mythology and bear names that coincide with important days on the Aztec calendar. Stop by for a brewery tour Saturdays at 3 p.m., or stop in on Taco Thursday to get three tacos for just $6 to accompany your brews.

Half Acre Beer Company
4257 N Lincoln Ave, Chicago

The Half Acre Beer Company has two locations: their Lincoln brewery opened in 2008, and the Balmoral brewery was added in 2015. The Lincoln location offers Saturday tours and a tap room featuring a menu of appetizers and burritos to accompany your brews. The Balmoral location is opening to the public for the first time this fall, so you can be one of the first in the doors.

The light and dry Pony Pilsner, fruity Daisy Cutter Pale Ale and citrusy Tuna are available year-round. September sees the annual arrival of the GoneAway IPA and Lead Feather Black Ale as well.
