5 Chicago Sports Teams You Need to Follow

January 09, 2017

Sports_Teams_Chicago.jpgIf you're a sports fan and relocating to Chicagoland, you're in luck. Not only did the city just take home a World Series championship trophy, but Chicago also offers some of the most talented sports teams in the country.

Here are five Chicago sports teams you’ll want to follow:

1. Chicago Cubs

One of the oldest teams in Major League Baseball, the Cubs have become a beloved pastime that's been handed down over the years. They are the only professional baseball franchise to play continuously in the same city and have been doing so since 1876. Taking in a game at Wrigley Field is almost a religious experience for sports fans, whether you’re a Cubs or not. And, with the recent World Series championship win for the first time in 108 years, it's hard not to get behind the passion of this team.

2. Chicago White Sox

Since we mentioned the Cubs, we must also include the White Sox. While the majority of Chicago's neighborhoods support the Cubs, White Sox fans dominate the suburbs south of the Eisenhower Expressway. So while it's questionable if our Springs at Orchard Road community in North Aurora falls into “Cubs territory,” Springs at Weber Road is definitely in White Sox territory.

3. Chicago Bears

The Chicago Bears franchise recently completed its 97th season. Although this season's record was nothing to write home about, the Bears have always been loved by their die hard fans, and have a young, promising roster. There's a great energy on the lakefront on Sunday afternoons in the fall, so you won’t want to miss the opportunity to experience a game at Soldier Field.

4. Chicago Bulls

While the Chicago Bulls most certainly had their glory days with Jordan, Pippen and Rodman during the 90s, they continue to be on the city's most followed teams. The Bulls added native Chicagoan Dwyane Wade and crafty point guard Rajon Rondo to the 2016-17 season roster, and they’re currently slated as the eighth seed (out of 15) in the Eastern Conference standings.

5. Chicago Blackhawks

The Blackhawks have delivered several championships to Chicago over the past few years. Like many of the professional sports teams in Chicago, the 'Hawks have a long history and are one of the "Original Six" teams in the National Hockey League. With big stars like Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane, you're sure to experience a hockey match that will keep you on the edge of your seat.
