Get Out and Enjoy These Four Top Parks in Round Rock, Texas

Best-Parks-Round-Rock.jpgThe people of Round Rock,Texas like their green space. This city of 106,000-plus has set aside over 1,700 acres for more than 30 parks city-wide. If you’re looking to take advantage of a beautiful afternoon, consider visiting any of the following four parks:

1. Play for All Park

This community-built park is designed to provide ALL children, regardless of ability, with an opportunity to play and develop skills in a fun, outdoor environment. The park includes several pods each intended to develop specific skills for all children. The park’s village pod consists of a replica town featuring child-size buildings with inside playthings to teach life skills, while a sensory sand-pod offers buried treasures and varied textured surfaces. The Rock Band Pod provides musical instruments as a method of nonverbal communication. Braille signs and color-coded directions promote easy navigation around the park.  

2. Old Settlers Park  
3300 Palm Valley Blvd
3.2 miles away

Old Settlers Park is the largest park in Round Rock, consisting of 645 acres. It offers just about every sport imaginable, including 20 baseball fields, five softball fields, seven fields for soccer, 12 lighted tennis courts, two lighted football fields, seven playgrounds. There are also two pavilions, a festival area, and Bright Lake, which is regularly stocked with bass, catfish and perch.

3. Dog Depot Dog Park

Round Rock citizens love their dogs, so naturally there has to be a park just for them! Dog Depot Dog Park is considered one of the best. The 1.85 acres of land allow for plenty of running room, and there are separate areas for large dogs and small-dogs (under 40 lbs). The fenced park features agility elements for your pooch  such as a tire jump, A-frame contact ramp, and a tunnel.

4. Shaylah Dane Skate Park  
1600 Gattis School Rd
6.2 miles from Springs at Round Rock

The Shaylah Dane Skate Park offers 14,000-square-feet to enjoy. The park is open from 6 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., and offers a good-sized skating bowl and a street section featuring steps, banks, boxes, rails, and ledges as obstacles. It can get very crowded, so be sure to avoid the peak times if you want room to skate freely. Admission is free.
