Fun Summer Sports Oklahoma CitySummer is the perfect season to get outside and try a new sport. If you’re looking for a great way to stay active this season, consider one of these great options in Oklahoma City.

1. Bricktown Beach Volleyball

Bricktown Beach is a manmade “beach” that the city sets up in the Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark on Third Base Plaza. The broad expanse of sand is open to the public until August 31. In addition to lounge chairs and umbrellas, the beach features everything you need for a game of beach volleyball. This sandy retreat won’t be around for long, so head out to test your skills while you can.

2. OKC Badminton Club

Are you a badminton enthusiast? You’re no longer confined to the occasional game at a relative’s family gathering. Join the OKC Badminton Club and start indulging in your favorite sport on a regular basis. The club gets together twice a week and welcomes players of all levels.

Fees are just $25 a month for one weekly session or $35 a month for two. If you want to try it out just once, it’s $8 for a single visit. Sessions take place at the Macklenburg Community Center on Wednesdays from 7 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to noon.

3. Climb Up OKC

Rock climbing goes to a whole new level at Climb Up OKC. You can scale the location’s 90-foot grain silos, both inside and out and the climate-controlled interior is the perfect place to escape the heat while climbing. If you don’t mind getting some sun, you’ll get unparalleled views of the OKC skyline during an outside climb.

4. Riversport Adventure Rentals

Do you prefer your adventures on the water? Check out the adventurous rentals available from Riversport Adventure Parks. Kayaking and stand up paddle boarding are available in the Boathouse District, Lake Hefner and Lake Overholser. You can also enjoy longboarding in the Boathouse District for more fun on the water. An hour-long rental for a single experience is just $19.

5. Disc Golf in City Parks

Oklahoma City offers disc golf in three locations, and it’s a great way to get outdoors. Dolese Youth Park, just 15 minutes from Springs at Memorial, features a Mach 3 course spanning 4,878 feet through a wooded landscape. Will Rogers Park is a 4,410-foot course with streams, waterways, and sloping terrain. Woodson Park’s Mach 3 course covers 6,070 feet with particularly long holes in wide open spaces — just 10 minutes from Springs at May Lakes. All three courses have 18 holes.
