Farmers Markets Around Oklahoma City This SummerThe first day of summer is June 21, and that means local fruits and veggies are in their prime! It's the perfect time to start visiting farmers’ markets and buying food locally. Luckily, the Oklahoma City area is home to several excellent farmers' markets where you can find everything from pasture-raised meats to watermelons.

1. Norman Farmers' Market

This market first opened in 1980 and is actually the oldest farmers’ market in the state of Oklahoma! It runs from April through October from 4 to 7 p.m. each Tuesday, and from 8 a.m. to noon every Saturday. Vendors set up both indoors and outdoors, where you'll find a wide array of fruits and veggies, fresh flowers, eggs, and meats. This is a great place to find some fresh herbs to plant in a windowsill garden and use in your cooking.

2. Edmond Farmers' Market
2733 Marilyn Williams Dr
Edmond, OK

The Edmond Farmers’ Market is open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. each Saturday from April through October, and on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to  1 p.m. June through October. Along with fresh produce, you'll find an assortment of fresh baked goods, Angus beef, cookbooks, and homemade soap and spa items that make great gifts. One vendor even sells fresh salsa, which is perfect for summer picnics.

3. Historic Oklahoma City Farmers' Public Market
311 Klein Ave
Oklahoma City, OK

This market is open year-round on Saturdays between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. on the first floor of the historic Public Market Building. You'll find everything from honey and homemade baked goods to seasonal produce. Outdoors and around the building, vendors also sell fresh flowers and herbs, and there's even a spice vendor where you can find the perfect seasonings for your summer barbecues.

4. Uptown Farmers' Market
North Walker Ave and 23rd St
Oklahoma City, OK

This farmers’ market just opened in 2015, but has grown substantially over the past two years. It's held the first and third Sunday of every month in June, August, and September, and on the second and fourth Sunday of July from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Along with local vendors, there will also be live music and activities for families. The market is dedicated to sustainability and is a great place to find organic produce from reputable local farmers.
