Security Pre Vacation Checklist for ApartmentHeading out on a summer vacation trip? Nothing can ruin it faster than that nagging feeling of leaving something undone back at your Springs luxury apartment home.

Get peace of mind with this helpful checklist of items to complete before your vacation.

1. Pay the Bills

While it would be nice, the meter doesn't stop running on rent, utilities, car payments and other financial obligations while you're gone. Springs offers online rent payment for your convenience. If your other bills are not on auto-pay, make sure you're caught up before you go.

2. Go Unplugged

Today it's not enough to make sure that lights and appliances are turned off. Unplug computers, TVs and other electronics to conserve energy.

3. Put Mail on Hold

You may be getting less snail mail these days, but your mailbox can still fill up pretty quickly. It takes only a minute or two to submit a mail hold online.

4. Purge the Fridge

Who wants to come home to sour milk and moldy cottage cheese? Use up any perishable food items before you leave.

5. Tidy Up

A few dishes in the sink isn't usually a problem, but it can be if you leave them there for several days. Clean up and take out the trash before you go. When you return, you'll be glad you took the time.

6. Check the Thermostat

No point in maintaining a comfortable temperature if you won't be around. But check the weather and be prepared for a stuffy apartment if the temperatures will be high while you're gone.

7. Arrange for Plant Care

Enlist the services of a family member or friend to come by and tend your house plants. If that's not possible, there are steps you can take for DIY plant care while you're away.

8. Don't Forget About Fido and Fluffy

If you have a pet, talk to your plant sitter about doing double duty. You can also use a service like Pet Sitters International to find reliable professionals to care for your pet and perform light tasks such as opening and closing curtains.

9. Secure Your Car

If you keep your car in a garage, you're all set. Otherwise, be sure to remove all valuables and park it in a well-lit spot with good visibility.

10. Lock Up

The most basic task is probably also the easiest one to forget. You might want to try an app like It's Done! that lets you manage door locking and other everyday repetitive tasks.

Be sure to let our onsite management team know if you're going to be away for an extended period. We're happy to accept package deliveries and keep an eye on your apartment while you're gone.
