Tips for Hot Summer Moving Day CincinnatiMoving into one of our Springs at Liberty Township or Springs at West Chester luxury apartment homes might not be your first choice of activity for a hot summer day, but it doesn't have to be so bad. Here are some great tips to help you keep your cool on a busy day.

1. Early to Rise

The sun and its damaging UV rays are strongest between the hours of 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. Start early and get the benefit of temperatures that can be cooler by 10 degrees or more.

2. Dress the Part

  • Stick with lightweight, natural fabrics like cotton that absorb moisture, keeping you cool and dry.
  • Avoid black and other dark colors that absorb sunlight. Opt for whites and neutrals.
  • Don't forget sunglasses and a hat.

3. Sunscreen: It's Not Just for the Beach

Don't spend the first night in your new Springs apartment nursing a painful sunburn. Use a sunscreen with a minimum 30 SPF and apply liberally to any exposed parts of your body, including face, neck and ears. Reapply every two to three hours.

4. Stay Refreshed

Whether it's a DIY move with family and friends or you've hired professional movers, everyone will need regular hydration to keep up their energy and maintain a comfortable body temperature. Pack a cooler with plenty of ice-cold beverages and cooling snacks. Include some rolled-up damp washcloths or hand towels for quick cool-downs.

5. Let the Air Flow

On hot days, a closed-up apartment can quickly turn into a blast furnace. Make sure you have the utilities turned on by moving day so you can run the air conditioning beforehand. You'll really appreciate it once you're ready to start unloading.

6. Have a Plan for Pets and Kids

You'll have enough to do without having pets and kids running around underfoot, plus they're at a greater risk of becoming overheated. Find a nice shady area for them to play and make sure they have access to drinking water. They'll love splashing around in a kiddie pool!

7. Safety First

No matter how careful you are, overheating can come on quickly. Know the symptoms of heat exhaustion and take appropriate measures if you even suspect that someone is having problems.

8. Be Prepared

The last thing you'll want to do is rummage around looking for sheets, toilet paper or phone chargers. Pack a first-night box with items you'll need right away. If you like, have a main box for general items and let each family member assemble their own individual box.

Keep the sunscreen handy. When you're done, treat yourself to a refreshing dip in our Springs resort-style swimming pool!New Call-to-action
